Harleysville speech and language therapy, for kids who get lost in the words.

Harleysville is just past Souderton from my Perkasie base, and travel is included. I work one-to-one in your home with children from birth through twelve, including kids whose trouble isn’t how words sound but understanding and putting language together.

Speech vs. language

Clear speech is only half of it.

Speech is how words sound. Language is understanding what people say and turning your own thoughts into sentences. A child can pronounce every sound perfectly and still struggle with language, and it’s easy to miss because they seem to be talking just fine.

Language difficulties often show up at school first, in directions that get missed or stories that don’t hang together. Working at home lets us practice with the conversations your child actually has.

Signs to watch for

What language trouble can look like

None of these alone means something is wrong. If several sound familiar, a free call is a good next step.

  • Misses or mixes up two-step directions.
  • Answers a different question than the one you asked.
  • Tells stories out of order, or leaves out the important part.
  • Struggles to find the word they want and uses “that thing” a lot.
  • Has a hard time with who, why and how questions.

M.S., CCC-SLP · 14 years with kids · ASHA certified

I spent fourteen years in Bucks and Montgomery County schools, where language needs were often the ones that school groups had the least time for.

In private practice I work one-to-one, so there’s time to dig into how your child understands and uses language, and to show you how to help at home.

From a Perkasie parent
My daughter went from a handful of words to actual sentences in a school year. What surprised me was how much of it was Cassie teaching me what to do at the dinner table.

Questions

Harleysville parents ask

Yes. Harleysville is part of my regular area, and travel is included in the $165 session fee.

Possibly. Language difficulties, like trouble following directions or organizing a story, can exist even when every sound is clear. The free call is a good way to find out whether it’s worth a closer look.

With your permission, yes. I’m glad to talk with the school SLP so we’re working toward the same goals.

Yes. Pennsylvania’s Early Intervention program serves children from birth to five, and private sessions can run alongside it.

We set clear goals after the evaluation and review them every eight weeks. You’ll see the progress, and you’ll hear it at the dinner table.
